Sayville Restaurant Month Puts Spotlight On These Eateries

Any time spent in Sayville is special whether you are passing through for the Fire Island ferry or enjoying a walk on the beach, or visiting some of the quaint shops and would not be complete without trying out one of the town's fine restaurants.

Through all of May, The Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Restaurant Month as part of the Town of Islip’s year-long 335th Birthday Celebration.

The oldest of the participating establishments offer prix fixe meals or other specials is the Sayville Inn & Tavern at 199 Middle Road.

The historic inn built in 1988 is where Teddy Roosevelt would stop in for a beer while visiting his cousin's summer home on Long Island.

Originally used to bottle beer, the inn became a restaurant in 1937 after Prohibition. The building retains the original rustic decor, with tin walls and ceilings, an original wood floor, and handcrafted bar with a cash register that's over 100 years old.

The restaurants include Parlor House Grill (298 W. Main St.), Bluestone Tavern ( 21 Montauk Highway)m The Cull House (75 Terry St.), La Tavola (183 Main St.), Loughlin Vineyard (255-299, County Road 65), Irish Exit (220 N. Main St.), Station Pub (3 Lakeland Ave.),  Cafe Joelle (25 Main St.), and T.O.A. Asian Fusian, 239 N Main St.
